New House Hotel Cardiff Wedding Photographer - Sophie & Oliver

At New House Hotel in Cardiff for Sophie & Oliver’s Timeless Black Tie Wedding - Photography by Ben Holbrook

Held at the gorgeous New House Hotel in Cardiff, Sophie and Oliver’s elegant wedding was a sophisticated black-tie affair perfectly combining timeless style, attention to detail, and joyful, candid moments. And it was my privilege to be the photographer at the New House Hotel, which is one of my favourite venues to photograph at.

Having already shared ten years together, Sophie and Oliver’s day was as meaningful as it was beautiful. Their celebration was a reminder that the best wedding photography comes from being fully immersed in the day, capturing real emotions, details, and moments as they naturally unfold.

The Morning

Morning preparations were busy so I arrived early to make sure I could capture the large groomsmen and bridesmaids parties.

Lots of action, lots of gifts, lots of tears…

The Ceremony

And then the main event…

From the moment they exchanged vows in the gorgeous, light-filled ceremony room, the day exuded elegance.

We enjoyed an epic confetti session on the patio area in front of this gorgeous period property, followed by drinks and (very) informal group photos.

The Reception

Moving up to the gorgeous elevated “marque” (I think of it more as a rooftop with city views over Cardiff), every detail from the floral arrangements (by @ninaisobelflorals) to the styling was thoughtfully curated to create a day full of love, laughter, and lasting memories.

The speeches were truly on point and the room was at once alive with laughter and tears.

I whisked Sophie and Oliver off for 15 minutes to themselves with a bottle of bubbly. We ran through the grounds and had fun shooting some beautiful couple portraits, before heading back inside for the biggest part of the day…

The Party

After saying cheers with their very own Champagne tower, Sophie and Oliver span straight into a playful (but I must add very impressive) first dance routine. Beautifully choreographed, it really set the tone for what quickly became a wild and unforgettable night of dancing and partying, which I photographed in all its fluid glory with my trusty flash.

Capturing these stylish yet unstuffy moments is exactly why I love photographing weddings at New House Hotel.
