Frequently asked questions

How do we book you?

Get in touch touch here to check my availability for your date. Assuming I am, we can either set up a quick call to run through your plans and requirements or you can just let me know if you’d like to book me. I will then send over details for the booking retainer (deposit), and that’s it.

You can then cross off “book a photographer” from your to-do wedmin list.

When will you send us our wedding photos?

In a nutshell: as soon as I can possibly can. I work six days a week, editing Monday to Friday and shooting most weekends, but it all takes time.

Officially I promise delivery between 8 and 12 weeks, though I can be quicker or slower depending on the time of year. If for example you get married in March, before I have built up a backlog, your full gallery will be with you within around 4-6 weeks. If you’re wedding date is in September, when I will already be working thorough a huge editing queue, I will take a little longer.

Don’t forget you will have your “sneak peeks” within a day or two of your wedding however, so hopefully this will tie you over until I get round to your full collection.

I always promise not to rush the editing, as I want your gallery to be absolutely perfect for you to cherish for a lifetime. And perfection can’t be rushed, as the old adage goes.

Do we need to feed you?

If you can then that would be very much appreciated as it will keep me fuelled up for a very long day (typically around 12-15 hours with driving time factored in as well). If however you’re on a tight budget, I would understand if this wasn’t possible. But please let me know in advance so I can bring something to eat without having to leave your venue.

What time do you arrive and leave on the day?

Every wedding is different. From my perspective it’s about discussing your itinerary and requirements and guiding you to the right package.

Generally speaking however, I arrive around 2-3 hours before your ceremony and leave around 30-60 minutes after your first dance.

Can you capture us both getting ready on the morning of our wedding?

I always make a huge effort to make this happen. If you’re both getting ready in the same location then I will definitely be able to capture you both getting ready.

If you’re getting ready in different locations then I will try to arrange it so that I can visit you both, though this depends on how far apart you will be. But we will discuss this in fine detail ahead of your big day and come up with a plan together.

Note that it is possible to add on a second shooter, which would guarantee full and unrestricted coverage of both wedding parties in the build up to the ceremony.

What happens if you get ill or can’t make it on the day?

In the highly unlikely event that I am unable able to make it to your wedding (this has never happened by the way), whether due to illness, injury, or any other reason, I would arrange for another photographer or videographer to take my place on the day. I would however still edit your photos/films.

I am part of a huge network and am lucky to be good friends with some truly talented photographers, so rest assured this would not be an issue even in the slightest.

What camera gear do you use?

I shoot with professional-grade Sony cameras. These cameras (I have three of them) all feature dual SD card slots, which means I am constantly recording backups. This gives me great peace of mind as it means I can promise you your photos will be safe, even in the event of a card failure.

For those who book my Analogue Heart Collection or “Signature Legacy Collection”, I also shoot with a selection of Canon and Nikon analogue 35mm film cameras.

What if you haven’t shot at the our wedding venue before?

Not a problem at all. I love shooting at new venues and find it inspiring and exciting. I would of course carry out my own research, spending some time on the venue’s website, and seeking out photos from other weddings to get a feel for the space and if/how I might need to adapt.

When shooting at a new venue I also arrive earlier than usual, just so I can spend some time wandering around and getting my bearings.

How much is the deposit?

I ask for a booking deposit fee of £250 to secure your date. This is non-refundable in the case that you cancel for any reason, but I would of course refund the full amount if I were to cancel (though this has never ever happened). Once this is paid I will be officially all booked up and yours for your big day! The balance is then due 30 days before your wedding date.

Do you travel to weddings outside of Wales?

I do! I used to be a full time travel writer and photographer/filmmaker and adore shooting in new destinations, whether within the UK or abroad. Depending on how far away your wedding venue is from where I live, I may add an amount to cover fuel/flights and accommodation if needed. But we would of course discuss this in detail and I promise never to add any “surprise” fees.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, I’m fully insured through Policy Bee.
